A Closer Look At Breast Augmentation Surgery

A breast augmentation is a straightforward procedure that can effectively enhance your breast size and shape with a surgically placed breast implant. Dr. Slenkovich performs breast enlargement surgery on an outpatient basis in our ambulatory surgery center. The surgery is typically performed under twilight anesthesia, also known as IV sedation, with a local anesthetic. This allows for quicker recover immediately following surgery and less chance of experiencing nausea from the anesthesia.

During the breast augmentation surgery a small incision is placed in a hidden area, typically in the fold below the breast. This incision location allows Dr. Slenkovich more precision and control on the placement of the breast implant and creation of the breast implant “pocket”. A pocket is created behind the pectoral muscle and existing breast tissue, as this location provides a more natural, refined shape to the breasts. A breast implant, either silicone gel or saline, is then placed into the newly created pocket and the incision is closed.

Your Breast Augmentation Consultation

During your consultation, you will meet with Dr. Slenkovich to discuss your aesthetic goals and get answers to all of your questions. Dr. Slenkovich will examine you to determine your breast width and evaluate your existing breast and skin tissue, as well as your current breast size, shape, and projection. From your examination and expressed goals, he can help you determine what breast implant sizes will best complement your body and provide you with the curves you desire. You can then virtually try on the recommended breast implant sizes on the 3D breast augmentation simulation model that is created by taking a photo of your breasts. This process will make the final choices associated with your breast augmentation easier to make.

While Dr. Slenkovich will provide recommendations to you during the consultation, there are still several choices you must make when considering a breast augmentation, including:
